My Nana has been pestering me for ages to make some Buttermilk Rusks so I went and bought all the ingredients and made my first atte,pt at Buttermilk Rusks.
Step 1: Melt the butter. I used the microwave to melt the butter instead of the stove I found it easier. Then you add the sugar, salt and buttermilk.
Step 2: Sieve the self raising flour and baking powder.
Step 3: Add the eggs to the butter mixture.
Step 4: Stir the butter mixture and flour mixture.
Step 5: Knead the mixture until it is nice and smooth.
Step 6: Make the dough into balls and place it in a aking tin together.
Step 7: Bake in a moderate oven till golden brown. Leave to cool.
Step 8: Once cool place on a baking tray and dry out in the oven at 100 degrees celsius till nice and hard.
Step 9: Take out the rusks and serve them warm or leave them to cool.
Step 10: Watch as your guests enjoy these lovely homemade rusks.
